MEET BLOC’S FOUNDER + COACH
RYAN MATT REYNOLDS

Helping busy men 40+ get strong, lean, healthy & capable for the long haul.

I’ve spent 25+ years and more than 30,000 hours coaching people to get stronger.

I’ve competed as an elite powerlifter and professional strongman, owned one of the country’s most successful strength gyms, and founded Barbell Logic.

But these days, the people I most enjoy coaching aren’t professional athletes.

They’re busy men like me.

Men with careers, businesses, marriages, kids, responsibilities, and full calendars. Men who want to be strong, lean, healthy, and capable without making fitness their whole life.

That’s what I coach.

Strength for the Life You’re Called to Live

Getting older doesn’t mean surrendering your strength. In fact, I believe strength becomes more important as we age, not less.

Muscle mass matters. Body composition matters. Cardiovascular fitness matters. Nutrition, sleep, and recovery matter.

But underneath all of it is something bigger: the physical capacity to keep doing what matters most.

To lead. To serve. To work hard. To be present for your wife and kids. To remain strong, independent, and capable.

We train for the whole man, not just the number on the bar.

Coaching Built Around Your Actual Life

You don’t need another cookie-cutter workout template.

You need an experienced coach who understands how to balance strength training, nutrition, conditioning, recovery, and health around the demands of your actual life.

I’ll build your program around your goals, schedule, training history, equipment, injuries, and limitations.

We’ll focus on the highest-return work:

  • Strength: Build and preserve muscle while developing real physical capability.
  • Body Composition: Lose unnecessary body fat while maintaining—and often building—muscle.
  • Conditioning: Improve cardiovascular fitness, endurance, and work capacity.
  • Nutrition: Prioritize protein, manage calories, and develop sustainable eating habits.
  • Recovery: Balance sleep, stress, and training demands.
  • Metrics That Matter: Track bodyweight, waist, blood pressure, conditioning, recovery, and relevant health markers to make better decisions.

And we’ll adjust all of it as your life changes.

Because the perfect program you can’t follow isn’t a good program.

My Coaching Philosophy

Ordered Strength. Useful Strain. Steady Persistence.

My philosophy is built around one central idea:

Strength should serve what matters most.

We all have finite resources: time, money, and energy. Training should use those resources wisely rather than consume them.

The Rule: Simple. Hard. Effective.

The Principle: Minimum Effective Action for Maximum Return.

The Method: Simplicity > Complexity. Effort > Easy. Efficiency > Excess.

We pursue work that’s simple enough to sustain, hard enough to matter, and effective enough to measure.

We practice voluntary hardship, measure what matters, and persist steadily over the long haul.

Order gives strain its purpose. Persistence gives strain its payoff. Strength is the result and greater capacity is the return.

Why Work With Me?

I’ve spent most of my adult life studying, practicing, and teaching strength.

I’ve coached beginners, competitive athletes, executives, entrepreneurs, parents, and grandparents.

I founded STRONG Gym in Springfield, Missouri, which was named Powerlifting Gym of the Year in 2013 and 2014, and founded Barbell Logic in 2016 to make professional coaching accessible regardless of geography.

Today, I personally coach clients wherever they live and train.

We’ll begin by understanding your goals, schedule, equipment, and training history. I’ll build your program, review your lifting videos, provide personalized feedback, hold you accountable, and adjust your training as life changes.

You’re not buying a program from me. You’re hiring a personal, professional coach.

A program can’t see you. A coach can.

More Than Strength

I’m a Christian, husband, father, coach, entrepreneur, author, and lifelong lifter.

I’m also the author of Undoing Urgency: Reclaim Your Time for the Things That Matter Most, published by Forbes.

At this stage of my career, I’m interested in something bigger than helping someone add five pounds to his squat.

I want to help men build the strength and health to show up well for the things that matter most.

To work hard. To lead and serve well. To be present for their wives and children. To play with their kids and eventually their grandkids. To travel. To remain useful.

To walk into the second half of life with strength and confidence rather than fragility.

Strong enough for the things you’re called to do.
