Chris Reynolds is Barbell Logic’s CTO and the person the company calls when technology has to scale or deliver under high-stakes deadlines. With more than 25 years of software engineering experience, he pairs deep technical expertise with the builder’s instinct he honed as a founder, making sure product vision translates into resilient, dependable systems for coaches and clients.

As the founder of Surton, an engineering agency focused on AI engineering and complex platform work, Chris has guided companies across industries through high-stakes launches, migrations, and turnarounds. He previously created BriteCore, a web-native insurance platform that he bootstrapped from a zero-capital startup into an eight-figure company with 150 employees before exiting to private equity in 2019. That journey from idea to scale to successful acquisition gives him a rare operator’s perspective on the technical and organizational pressure points growing companies face.

Known for stepping into the hardest problems, Chris is a recognized expert in AWS infrastructure, distributed system design, and applied AI. He thrives on building high-trust engineering teams, translating business outcomes into architecture, and shipping quickly without sacrificing reliability.

Chris holds a degree in Computer Information Systems from Missouri State University and completed an intensive executive education program at MIT. He leads from the front, stays close to the code, and believes top-tier engineering requires both humility and urgency. He lives in Florida with his wife and three children.
