#281 – Principles #3: Get More Done with the Pomodoro Technique

SHOW NOTES

Matt and Chris Reynolds discuss their “secret weapon” for getting more done in a fast, efficient manner. The Pomodoro Technique, which Matt wrote about for the Barbell Logic newsletter, involves setting a timer to 25 minutes and working without interruption on a single task during that time. No bathroom breaks, no cell phone use, no getting up for a drink. 100% focused work. After the 25 minutes are up, take a 5 minute break. This 30 minute block of time constitutes a single “Pomodoro,” and everyone can do at least two in a row before needing a longer break.

Using this simple technique, you can get the mundane, monotonous part of your work day done in short, efficient bursts without getting distracted by emails and phone notifications. Chris even worked up to performing 8 Pomodoro’s in a row while he was running his company and still doing a lot of coding.
