Each week, we shine the spotlight on one of our online coaching clients. The simple idea of making ourselves stronger through training brings together people of all different backgrounds and for all different purposes. O’Della Grundy

Brace yourselves for O’Della. She’s in her 80’s and has better technique than most of us. She also takes the cake for the sassiest response to “What or who gets you to train when your motivation is really low?”
O’Della’s daughter, Shauna, is there with her when she lifts, gives her cues and holds up these very important signs for her coach, Sully. This is a pretty fantastic lifting duo!

How long have you been training?

Since July 2017

Why did you start lifting?

To regain use of right arm/shoulder after three separate falls. Due to age, I felt written off by doctor and physiotherapist.

What do you love about training?

I love the feeling of accomplishment and overall strength and confidence.

What lifting achievement are you most proud of?

Accomplishing a 150 deadlift at the Barbell Prescription Clinic in Farmington

Did you ever think at any point in your life that someday you’d be as strong as you are now?


Describe a time after you started training when someone noticed your gains. What was it like?

It is being noticed all of the time – surprising, but good for the confidence

What or who gets you to train when your motivation is really low?
